ETH ppl are negging Serum because they've been trained to oppose anything that is an open acknowledgment that Ethereum doesn't scale.
Solana and Serum, in their eyes, is another "Ethereum killer" like EOS or Cardano, for them to mock.

Yeah I gotta say I was a little bit taken aback by it. Like there are lots of really fair arguments against Serum! Maybe there will be no revenue in DeFi. Maybe no one wants to bother using another chain.
But like building an orderbook is one thing we'll definitely do.

bigger question is can it scale L1 to what is described
it's one thing to smash my hands on keyboard and fill 0.X% of testnet Solana network, but it's another thing to run a fully featured series of hundreds of spot, derivatives books w/ non-stop quoting, constant executions

Yeah totally agreed! I'll def be able to run an orderbook well but it's harder to konw how many it can handle. And there might be some things that really stress the network.
