a) Working through this was the most fun I'd had in a while. The TL;DR: Solana and Ethereum can both parse each other's histories. So they can tell what the other is doing, and coordinate by watching what each other do.

Lack of interoperability is an obvious reason for why Binance DEX hasn't gained any traction whatsoever. No one wants to use Binance Chain and swapping to compatible tokens is a pain in the ass. Remains to be seen how this DEX handles interoperability in practice though

b) This requires manual input (the histories)--but if _anyone_ submits the true history, Serum will make the right decision. So you don't have to trust others, you can just submit the truth yourself. Or if you're asleep, _any single_ node can guarantee success by being honest.
