What do u mean by "instant PNL" ? fun fact: I was using it on mex until one day I woke up to LTC fu wicked 27%, got instant liq (no SL cause it doesn't add up to the technique) the hedge was pointless cause 1 it didn't wick, 2 its returned to market value. free money? think again

correct me if I am wrong but that would imply, both position wick by roughly the same amount. In my case, only the futures contract wicked(malfunctioned) & that why i got liq, otherwise one position would cover the other just like u described above. dynamic PnL works on mex too

Any exchange which lets u use unPnL for w/e reason (pyramiding, collateralized position etc) has a dynamic PnL I agree with the latter.

I think "basis trade" or "arb" or something, not super great word for it. But yeah as @AliceCrypt said--there's def an arb when quarterlies are over spot (sell quarterlies, by spot); when it's quarterlies vs perpetuals you have to take a guess at what funding will be.
