Maybe I'm dumb af here and not thinking it thru lol but why does it even matter? Cause math is easier for the computer doing the calculations? Either way, you get the same result no? Or is it just the simple fact of using USD/USDT as collateral what's important here?

There are other reasons to use USD(T) collateral as well, but one nice thing is it makes it easy to think about. Sure a computer could calculate your PnL either way but it's really helpful while trading to be able to roughly understand what you'd expect to happen.
