The TL;DR: USDT issuances sometimes come with BTC price increases because people create USDT to buy BTC, nothing shady required to explain that.

In terms of market turnover--most spot BTC trades against spot USDT, so the question is just whether there's more BTC/[non-USDT] volume or [non-BTC]/USDT volume, and they're similar. Note that if you include futures, BTC trades more than USDT.
