I want the pair with the thickest books / highest volume (across all major exchanges, that is, not including fake volume). Most alts are the most liquid against BTC, but the majors usually trade more against USDT.

Alts vs BTC is a good additional option, since Alts vs USD really depends way too much on BTC vs USD action. And in the end of the day we all care about more satoshis :)

Yeah and since alts get crushed when BTC pumps, they're just underperforming daddy bitcoin, that's why i no longer bother trading usd pairs..
