But can I trade a futures/swap curve and receive long funding while being short or conversely is the interest likely to stay positive for perp. shorts like ETHUSD on Mex due to gamma?

ETHUSD on Mex is weird because it's quantosed, so it'll almost always pay to shorts. FTX's futures are all standard USD-settled futures, so their funding rates will be much closer to 0 and could be in either direction.

Could be intresting to see basket arb evolve around this. I assume the constituents are shortable by borow (e.g. Paxos lends the top 5) or on Binance. Nice going, looking forward to the Bitcoin Option IV index.
