@Ryanair just checked 4 of us in for our flight from Luton to Portugal on Friday, and not surprisingly we are all seated apart in middle seats! Yet click on change your seats and we can pay £14 each to sit together as half the plane is still available!!
Hi Debbie, seats are allocated at random at the time of check-in, therefore we cannot guarantee you will be seated together unless you choose to sit together at the time of booking. AR

Certainly is random! From row 6 to 33!! And by placing all of us in middle seats all you have done is create 8 more single seats. Just admit it’s to make people pay to sit together!! We booked our return flight with EasyJet, didn’t pre book seats and we are all seated together!

Random?!? Yeah right! In laws (4 of them) sat in middle seats out and back. Happens every time. But always seems to be an option to pay to sit together. Plane wasn’t even full.

We knew we weren’t guaranteed to sit together, and were prepared to take that risk, but when you can see half the plane is still available, you could at least put groups of 4 in twos or near each other.

They're just trying and hoping to get that extra few quid out of you Debbie, same reason they've changed 4 day rule to 48 hours starting next month with online check-in if you've not purchased seats.

I’m having the same problem it’s so disgraceful to sit people separately when there are clearly seats together!!!!
