Hi @Ryanair
I asked at Dublin check-in desk if I could have cabin baggage in hold to save souvenirs from previous flight. Was priced €40 for this.
Get to gate, flight is fully booked and looking for volunteers for free hold baggage. Why did I need to bin presents?
HI Dani, checked baggage is €40 if you do it after booking. It is unrelated to those that volunteer to add their bags at the gate. Those are cabin bags and are much smaller than checked baggage. DL

I think you misunderstand. I wanted to put my cabin bag in the hold and was told it would be €40. Once I get past security, I'm asked to put the same bag in the hold as a "complementary" service - after I need to get rid of any presents from my connecting flight.

HI Dani, we do not offer a free cabin bag check-in at bag drop in Dublin airport, the price they were giving you was for a checked bag. JH
