Waiting till they get to gate to find out if they have a seat is unfair and I'm sure is protected by consumer rights?

What made it worse was customer service was closed and with no means of contact, the only option was to pay premium

they can assist you with seat if any is still available and system in someway didn't give you one. Thanks MV
