@Ryanair hi there, traveling with a band next May. Can't find an exact answer about their carry on luggage requirements... there's a mixture of trombones/ different instruments. Worried that they won't be let on with them?

Hi Duncan, if these can fit within your cabin bag then there won't be an issue. If not then you will need to pay for musical instruments to be checked in. LR

The trombone won't be able to fit into a cabin bag. And it's far too dangerous to check an item like that in.

Then you will need to pay for an extra seat for this. LR

Can this be done for any insrument? There's a large bass saxophone that weighs 32kg with it's flightcase. Easier to book it a seat than check it in?
Do the instruments get to have their own carry on luggage?1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Yes however the instruments must fit within the seat dimensions. A piece of baggage cannot weigh more than 32kg. No they do not have carry on allowance. LR

When you say fit inside the seat dimensions... How tall can an instrument be? If its lowest part is sat on the seat, is it allowed to go any higher than the top of the seat? My mate is 6'4" and his head pokes well above the top of the seat.

Hey, does the instrument have to sit below the headrest? Can two instruments share a seat with one ticket? They're trombones so are very thin. Genuine questions.

Hi Duncan, apologies for the delay. It is one instrument per seat & the instrument can be over the headrest however this must be secure in the seat.
