Just finished writing 800 words on police unions. This would make an ideal time for some cross-ideological cooperation aimed at curbing the power of these organizations, which have done so much to bring us to the present point.

In April, Ralph Northam signed a bill allowing Virginia counties, cities, and towns to recognize public sector unions. Until May 2021, Virginia will remain among the few states prohibiting public sector collective bargaining. I wonder how many cities will recognize police unions.pic.twitter.com/8DUuEU6kpx

The bill provides that for any governing body of a county, city, or town that has not adopted an ordinance or resolution providing for collective bargaining, such governing body is required, within 120 days of receiving certification from a majority of public employees in a unit considered by such employees to be appropriate for the purposes of collective

You either allow public sector unions or not. You can't allow them for teachers, et a., but not cops.
