Inflation Reduction Act contained funding for a hurricane hunter jet ($100M), there's little specific for hurricane research especially forecasting rapid intensification. Ongoing projects could be accelerated into operations w/relative tiny investment.

As Congress is negotiating continuing budget resolution, it's a good time to include proactive hurricane research and resiliency funding w/Navy involvement. How much? Drop in the 🪣 Computing resources 📈 $1B over 5/years. Grant funding / researchers: $1B over 5/years.

Can you please tell me what we can expect in Saint Augustine Florida…we currently are in a hurricane watch…storm surge warning and tropical storm warning..I seen some 18z models are moving west..

COAMPS seems to have ian going further NW in Atlantic, then hitting near Wilmington & on to Raleigh. HWRF shows Savannah then to Columbia. Most of the other models seem to fall within these two ranges.
