Everything is ultimately solar powered, if you think about it for long enough. 🌞->Solar Panel 🌞->🌬️->Wind Turbine 🌞💥->⚛️->☢️->Nuclear 🌞->🦠->🌽->🐮->👨 🌞->🦖🌲->⌛->🛢️⛰️⛽ ... And nucleosynthesis to fill in the raw materials and gaps in between.

Joke: These Dodgers starters will be so good now that they aren't limited on IP! Woke: The reason they were so good was they never had to pitch while hurting, and got 10-15 day breaks all season. Don't overhype Stripling/Maeda y'all!

Fantasy Baseball pitching twitter is just chock full of people creating **hot new metrics** that are basically just FIP or xFIP, but worse. Oh, your new metric includes both K and BB? Plus some non-predictive statcast spices on top? Please, tell me more. 🙄

"How will cheating affect things" feels equally unanswerable, but recency bias, I guess? I totally agree that people should be talking about the ball more.

For pretty much every response I've gotten so far, described the player well in-season, but was absolutely not more predictive of the following season than regular projections. Honestly, I am 100% out on using Statcast preseason.

Another thing I'm pumped for - I created a standalone Google Sheet which aggregates all the best known baseball projections (Steamer, ATC, ZiPS, The Bat, etc...). Complete with a script that can pull in updated projections every day. Make your own copy:

What's more embarrassing for the NFL about this pregame? That there's still a team called the Redskins? Or that so many of these '100 greatest' are dead or dying from chronic brain injury?

Of the 20 players in those articles, my "analysis" predicted the correct ISO-projected ISO direction 11 times. On average the 10 players I liked outperformed their projected ISO by 0.006, and the 10 players I disliked underperformed by 0.009 Welp.

So now the big question: Muncy is the only good example I've heard, vs. many others where xStats were useless. So what's the difference w/ Muncy? Are there other factors to identify which xStats breakouts are "real"? If not, you are going to make bad decisions based on xStats.

Muncy is the first good one I've gotten, I think. '18 wOBA: .407 '19 wOBA projection: .334 '18 xwOBA: .394 '19 wOBA: .373 Steamer had basically averaged his 2018 with his 2017. But statcast from '18 show he was more legit than that.

Reading up on and the two major pieces of advice I would like to pass along are: 🙏🏼 Wash your hands 😷 Last year’s seasonal flu killed 34,200 people in the US; get your flu shot

And bonus question: what are the ones that statcast got you 'in' on, and you got burned?

Who are the players that have been correctly predicted as breakouts based on historical statcast data? And not guys that projections were already in on. I see people citing statcast data all the time in preseason prep, but I really don't know of any meaningful examples.

The Venn diagram of people surprised by Dodgers player's ADPs and people that don't pay attention to the Dodgers DL management schemes / roster construction is a literal circle
