Revealing his secret could get her everything she wants. Too bad she’s fallen in love with him... Read the blurb + fill out the form to be alerted when The World Between Us comes out:

Tried show on Hulu but stopped after three minutes when he starts talking. And it’s faux-philosophical racist bullshit 😢 Why was Buddha fat? Have you tried Google? Buddha wasn’t but his image was conflated with a native Chinese God when Buddhism moved into China

Having an unusual attraction doesn’t make me more sexual or more kinky. It doesn’t give me any additional sexual attributes. —

When the movie came out I was annoyed about the “quad wants to die” plot but it is a reasonable story here. It’s where Rhyme starts but the story is how he grows beyond it. He finds purpose and love. It is the accepting his disability story. And there’s a place for those at times

I wish the movie was turned into a show just so we could see more romance between Amelia and Lincoln. They’re so good together

One of the things I love in the book is that while Rhyme is mostly the trope of immobile genius, in the end it is he who stops the killer. Literally physically as a high level quadriplegic he stops the killer himself. The movie took that away from him a little bit

Now I’m watching the movie again. How is it they do a better job with disability in a movie from twenty years ago?! I’m really disappointed so far with show :( took a lot of care in the research for the books and the new show is throwing it away

You are not prepared to have a child if you cannot acknowledge that you might get *any* of the possible human variations out of the deal; and if you're pickier than that, if you don't wanna unless you get the ~right kind~, you are not prepared to parent.

Switching back to Black Sails for the evening. I only have one episode left!!!! Couldn't ask for a better Long John or a better done prequel to my favorite book.

I'll watch the next episode but if I see any more about "maybe there's hope I'll be cured" I'm out.

No no no no no! Please tell me his toe did not just twitch. Are you about to go in for every cliche? I'm forgiving a non-disabled actor but to be less accurate and believable than the books and movie is hard to forgive.

The simple request of recognising disabled actors as equal, as peers, allowing them to audition as such and letting their talent do the rest. Currently however their are barriers to access (physical, attitudinal, economical and social) that are preventing this from happening.

I write romances with disabled characters but I’m not, shall we say, prolific. If you want more I highly recommend Annabelle Costa’s books. She is super prolific and writes great rom-coms with disabled heroes.

Well it’s diverting significantly from the book now. That makes me nervous because I know and trust that the book is good! When it comes to disability portrayal in media I get very anxious but I try to have an open mind and expect the best (despite previous experience...)

Not sure how I feel about how he is just laying in bed like an abled person. No braces? Nothing to keep his fingers from curling? No head support? It’s not reading believable to me

So the excuse given a lot of the time for actors who are not disabled is the need for flashback scenes pre-injury. Often there is no real need for flashbacks but in this case I’ll concede it is an integral part of the story and a legit excuse. What do you think?

It is probably easier and more comfortable for him and that’s fair
