The @GOP couldn’t care less about children. Their real concern was that last line. Parents can’t go back to work. They’re desperate to be able to point at more people working to try to win the election even if it means endangering huge numbers of Americans.
If Pres. Trump fought the pandemic at all since Feb. the kids would be in school right now with little issues.

Lengthy time away from school harms a child’s ability to advance academically AND prevents educators from ensuring the wellbeing & safety of students.
School closures also make it difficult for millions of parents to work.-
