Okay computer people, how upset would you be if you came home to find that a 10 Terabyte external drive you just got finished moving every single file over from a failing NAS was dropped by a visiting family member, losing about 8 terabytes of data... 15 years of stuff.

Tragic. I'm so sorry. Any backups at all? Anywhere?
It was the backup actually lol. I was moving it all over because my NAS system was failing on multiple drives, so was backing it all up to that external so I could replace the drives on it. 25 years in IT and I stupidly did a move instead of a copy thinking this wouldn't happen.
