I have been asked about my Alpha 1. there is a liver and lung version of it. My mother has the liver version, and I have the lung as well as a brother. I have ZZ type, which around 100,000 Americans have. Alpha 1 is considered Genetic COPD,

and currently I only have around 64% lung capacity. I take weekly infusions of prolastin to try to keep the lungs from deteriorating any further. Without the good insurance I have from the hospital, and without 10 years of built up FMLA, I would be in real trouble,

just like millions of Americans out there that don't. It really scares me to think of what would happen to me if I lost my job because there is no way I could afford the medical costs of this.

This brings on a whole level of stress that I know a lot of Americans share that is truly unneeded. We shouldn't have to be stressed out over medical costs and not going and getting the proper care we need because we can't afford it.
