    UNDRIP Article 18 is minimum standard 4 FN Peoples 2 exercise decision-making by choosing representatives though their own procedures & institutions-the Indian Act, bands and band councils r colonial not Indigenous procedures & institutions! Change Chiefs' orgs into Peoples orgs!

    Article 18 IP's have the right to participate in decision-making in matters which would affect their rights, through representatives chosen by themselves in accordance w/ their own procedures, as well as to maintain & develop their own indigenous decision-making institutions.

    The person who wrote the original story reached out, and acknowledged it's an oversight to leave out FN ppl, mentioned that they were guided by local environmental group (which of course means no involvement from FNs or awareness of their interests). 1
