I had never thought about POC needing to “label up” on campus with hoodies, etc. How sad that is necessary. NMSU was a very different environment in that sense, thankfully.
This has sparked a protest right now at @BarnardCollege after a @Columbia black student was reported profiled. This happened yesterday at Barnard College. A black Columbia University student was entering the library when he was racially profiled by public safety officers. They took his ID. They pinned him down.

The thing that gets me about that and this incident is how come the guards can't remember faces when they've made previous ID requests? There are just 6000 undergraduates, I understand.

Columbia and Barnard need to do more than just apologize. They need to reimburse this student's entire tuition. And/or pay for his entire tuition if he transfers to a school more accepting towards African-Americans like CCNY or an HBCU.
