Thanks for doing this story. Inmates really need a family support system on the outside who still cares about them and motivates them to want to be better people if and when they do get out. We've dealt w/ it with one of my brothers in Florida, and an unrelated inmate in MD.

It bothers me when inmates relatives refuse to have any contact with them regardless of how non-deadly their crime was. Humans behind bars tend to lose their identity to the real world on the outside. It makes it harder for them to re-enter society and contribute. Some give up.

What Art has done, should be worthy of some kind of humanitarian award, because no one else is even bothering to attempt what he's been doing for almost a lifetime by giving lifelines to inmates and their families to connect. Visitations to inmates are tough for their relatives.
