Everyone follow journalist @robvato who is dropping knowledge how news orgs have failed to cover Central American refugees justly. And yes, Obama Admin separated children, too. Immigrant groups in #NM were silent then, instead attacked @Gov_Martinez on drivers licenses

NM groups weren’t silent. They were traveling to Artesia and raising awareness as well. Immigration attorneys were giving their time and groups were taking supplies down there. Groups like NM Dream Team were also stopping deportation buses.

Those were rare cases in NM. Most of the time, they were silent on the plight on Central Americans and focused on their provincial, local issues. I covered. I know.

I know as well, and I think you’re reducing the work by calling it provincial. I don’t know if it’s an issue of silence or capacity.

Or perhaps reach out to @Somosunpueblo and @ELCENTRO_NM to get their perspectives?

And you stand by your statement that they were “silent,” and that they instead “attacked” the Guv? It’s hardly an attack when a group of rag-tag organizers defend immigrants from a powerful and well-financed Governor. #HotTakes

They, and you, were silent about the Obama Administration separating children and its immigration policies. Only Sen @IveySoto called out the Obama Administration. #NotHotTake #Facts

You don’t know your facts. We were rag tag and getting arrested in 2013. Many people worked tirelessly to end the family detention, including volunteer educators. @NEANewMexico @AFTNM President Ly and many other union members brought supplies & created act of civil disobediencepic.twitter.com/jr7giQ1Ohu

I don't see any signs denouncing the Obama Administration for its policies in this photo that are similar to Trump's now. Did you or the unions denounce the Obama Administration for his actions?

I did, And you said, "the real issue is..." and you went back to Gov Susana Martinez and the partisan issues. Meanwhile, a Democratic Administration was detaining, deporting immigrants and NM Dems were largely silent. #journalism
