For the first time a H-6N was seen landing with an air-launched Anti-ship ballistic missile (ALBM/AShBM). This missile so far labelled as CH-AS-X-13 is often referred to the DF-21D but here it looks almost to feature an DF-17 like hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) on top the rocketpic.twitter.com/yOugsjkkhx

Why the Chinese are going for an air-launched stand off HGV in several figures. Standard SM-3's are exoatmospheric and HGV's are not. I was discussing this with a former Marine Intelligence officer some years back. You can't just "put a radar on a body" here. Most of the radar system needed is built into the boat itself. You would need to remove the ABM capability to defend against this.
