    It's all smoke and mirrors. do not collect stats on teacher retention by ethnicity. A joint survey btwn and with over 1000 BME teachers showed that over 60% had thought of leaving teaching in last yr.

    An impt gesture by to address shocking unemploymt levels among some gps of young men & women. But govt & advisory board need to balance the emphasis on developing soft skills/qualificns of young ppl with enforcement & accountability on employers.

    And we need to understand better exactly what the Youth programme will entail & deliver, ensuring that it is led by those connected with and from BME communities.

    That means we also need a stronger onus & accountability on the employers and employment support providers (including JobCentre Plus) within this programme, making them 'explain or change' their recruitment, retention and progression policies in the labour market.

    ... can imply that their unemployment levels are solely a reflection of lack of soft skills and qualifications, whereas we educational attainments of BME groups are not currently being recognised or rewarded by employers & that discrimination and unconscious bias persist.

    The £90million Youth Programme & Race Disparity Audit Advisory Gp are welcome contributions to levelling the playing field for young ppl. Much emphasis at the moment is on young men and women themselves, and how we can get get them more "work-ready" for the labour market, however
