Quick question: Why do cars have blind spots? Two extra mirrors would solve the problem and eliminate the risk. Are we conserving our mirror supply?

My wife's car has a convex mirror on the driver side view mirror, I can see anything anywhere up and down the left side of the car from the driver's seat without turning around, no blind spot! Is that what you mean? If I could afford it I'd get one for my car.

Yes, that’s one type. You can buy a cheap one that attaches to you side view mirror. I never did it bc I didn’t trust i would apply it correctly or that it would stay on. But it should be standard on every car

I thought blind spots in modern cars were an artifact of improperly adjusted mirrors. Basically if people adjust the side mirrors so they can see the car sides, their fields unnecessarily overlap with the rear view and are thus too narrow to adequately cover the rear side areas.

@OrionKidder Yes, this! I’ve been preaching f this for years and was validated when my local tire shop gave these out one year:pic.twitter.com/PAEKLOWHr3

If you want to be able to look over your shoulder while backing out of a parallel parking spot, you want it in the improperly positioned configuration (because you can't see your rear view from that position and it covers the part you have to really strain your neck to see).

You can eliminate blind spots with proper adjustment of the side mirrors (i.e. not the way we are usually taught). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkQX2gkwJoEe …

That’s true. I can’t re-learn how to use mirrors like that.

Please don't make driving any easier, there are already too many old people on our roads! (I have little circular convex mirrors attached to both my side view mirrors)
