This is the entire project: To cast marginal, sometimes goofy left-wing ideas as equivalent to *the president of the United States fomenting a violent white supremacist coup attempt*

Yes "oppose racism and sexism" by constantly drawing equivalence between racists and anti-racists.

It would not have been censorship for Oprah's producers to decide that the vaccine "question" wasn't worth airing. The country would objectively be better off if they had. Some issues aren't worth airing and some debates simply aren't worth having.

This is exactly the debate we're having now with white supremacy and these constant dust-ups about shit like B*n Sh*piro writing a newsletter. The Great Replacement is just as toxic as anti-vaxx shit and platforming these dumbasses normalizes them.

Not only did this call the efficacy of vaccines into question, but it allowed hardcore anti-vaxxers to flood mainstream TV shows with misinformation. Even if you go back and debunk the claims later, you can't un-ring the bell.

The anti-vaxx "question" appeared on Oprah, The View, Larry King and The Daily Show. It was always framed as a debate, a possibility worth discussing. What could possibly be the harm of discussing preliminary data from a single study?

So much of the damage of the anti-vaccine movement took place in the decade where it was seen as edgy and "challenging" to constantly ask questions about aut*sm and v*ccines

SUCH a good and important one. they touch on one of the worst things about anti-vaxxers who have kids with autism: “it always makes me uncomfortable when parents talk about the tragedy of their kids being who they are.”

A lot of conservative commentators desperately *want* the "nobody wants to live in blue states/blue cities anymore" meme to be true but the market doesn't lie

It should not have surprised me that diet and wellness bullshit was part of the anti-vax movement from the very beginning.

Astonishing vaccination numbers released today in the UK: the NHS provided a vaccine dose to ≈1.2% of British adults *yesterday* alone. 1 out of every 87 adults got a vaccine dose yesterday! The UK has screwed a lot up, but the vaccination effort so far is a huge accomplishment.

Party asymmetry: Democrats uncertain about using Senate control representing tens of millions more voters to help the public, while Republicans charge forward on locking in minority rule.

The use of "legally dubious" as a euphemism here is a great example of the problematic impulse to downplay when one side proposes something flatly illegal and/or authoritarian. Ending birthright citizenship by EO is A) facially unconstitutional, and B) plainly authoritarian.

What a bizarre way to present this data. The uncropped version makes clear this change is being driven entirely by the drop in number of No opinion/Never heard of, which is just what you’d expect to happen as wealth and education go up.
