tv writers are not the reason teachers are underpaid.
teachers are not the reason nurses are underpaid.
nurses aren’t the reason assembly line workers are also underpaid.
we are not in competition with each other. everyone deserves a living wage. #WritersStrike#wgastrong
Theranos’ test never worked. Holmes knew it didn’t work. But she and the company still tried very hard to get more and more people to rely on it for potentially life-or-death decisions. If that type of fraud represents “the sun” to you, then yeah, don’t get to close to it
“I recently profiled Elizabeth Holmes, who has overcome her criminal past to become Liz, the current world record-holder for telling stories where everyone claps at the end.”
Or, you can still do whatever you want but people don’t like blackface any more! So you can play a black guy, and no one will want to see it, and you’ll catch some shit - just like EVERY ARTIST EVER has faced the prospect of failure when they do things people don’t like!
Extremely funny that he throws "or majority" into his screed explicitly arguing that films should cater to the majority.

everyone has a million deep psychological theories but the reason guns are everywhere is that gun manufacturers put a lot of money into telling scared people that they are exactly right because bad guys have guns so guess what you need too
Losing Nordstrom is a serious blow to the city. San Francisco as we know it is going away bit by bit, writes columnist @CarlnolteSF. https://trib.al/vcCjpWR
Serious q for gun control advocates: you’ve failed to effect change. Pls face it. You can’t do it, thx to the 2A. We’re all well aware you don’t like that fact, but fact it is. What’s next? Must we just stay here sad, concerned, lamenting? Could we possibly talk OTHER SOLUTIONS?
The problem is not the 2A, but rather GOP activist judges rewriting 2A at the behest of the gun industry. In Heller (2008), by a single vote, the Court discarded two centuries of 2A jurisprudence. The Constitution is not a suicide pact and the GOP reading of 2A is absurd.

"We look the other way, mutter about crime and quality of life, and ignore the fact that we as a society are taking the cheap, easy way out by condemning some of our neighbors to a kind of walking death."
right now there is no set measurement for streaming residuals. we do not know how many views streaming shows get so the studios make up a rate and that's what you get. sometimes you get NOTHING, other times you get a check for $8. i'm not kidding #WritersStrike
You can't pretend to be a Bold Truth-Teller while also being too chickenshit to own up to your actual argument.
A paper that simply laid out a defense of merit *also* wouldn't be worth publishing because that's utterly banal. Own up to your beliefs or stfu, this is so tedious.
See the true best original song in theaters this weekend. Apartment For Sale, performed by Cate Blanchett, from Todd Field’s TÁR.

to publish.
The paper got basically the correct response of "sir this is a Wendy's" when you demand someone publish your rant at a place it doesn't belong.
I know progressives oft-preferred attack on the UK monarchy is that it’s an extension of imperialism & colonialism, but it’s 10x easier & more effective to mock as a ridiculous clownshow than denounce as a moral travesty
The subway killing in New York, horrible as it is, was not an isolated incident. From what data I can find, it looks like murders of unhoused people are on the rise all over the country. https://thenation.com/homeless-homicides-are-on-the-rise/…
Enjoyed this. I was a bit worried about this one, cause I thought it might just be cynical poking at the nudge stuff, but no, they really took it apart.
Episode 13: Nudge (Part 1)
In 2008, an economist and a law professor proposed an era-defining political idea: What if the government stopped doing politics and started doing marketing?

Easily the funniest part of brain-dead conservative media defenses of Harlan Crow's patronage of Clarence Thomas is that how many of them end with "DISCLOSURE: ok yes Harlan Crow gives us a ton of money, too"
