I disagree w/ @sairasameerarao. If we aren't united across all races to work against racism & celebrate diversity, we can't succeed. As bold progressives, if we splinter & snipe at each other, racists will not get the message they need to change. #coleg @colo_politics #copolitics https://twitter.com/sairasameerarao/status/1014906137756557312 …

Might worth taking a step back and asking: why is it always our (white people’s) perspective that decides what’s sniping and decisive vs. unifying and coalition-broadening? Are we truly listening enough to the voices outside the circle who are ALSO asking for unification?

This is why so many of us are exhausted, fed-up and no longer engaging with racists and their enablers. They know full well what time it is. But slow-walking the conversation with BS like “well, actually” and “not all WP..” is a key ingredient to maintaining the status quo.

Just an FYI, there's nothing bold or progressive about throwing a woman of color under the bus for the sake of, well whatever you hoped to achieve with this tone-deaf tweet. "Ignore the trolls" is advice from the privileged.

I see a lot of fear and pain for many people of color and families of immigrants. We need to listen to that and be allies.

Well intentioned or not, we inevitably let people of color down. Sooner or later. Repeatedly.

I disagree. As a white person, we have the privilege to "celebrate diversity" as leaders, candidates or electeds without facing critiques telling us we talk about race "too much" like candidates & leaders of color hear from white people.

Hey Paul, this is a terrible take. It’s a take driven by #whitefragility. We all have it, but what Saira is saying is that it’s our job to call out racism and dismantle white supremacy. It’s my job and it’s YOUR job. Stop silencing POC. #istandwithsaira

Walking around and insisting the reason you lost is because of white people and that all white people are guilty of racism, etc.. is racist, bigoted and weak. You stand with a women who ran on Trumps divisive messaging, just on the other side. You're being a sheep
