I kind of separate my ideas of "drawer" and "painter," digitally speaking
As a 'drawer' I do the clean, cartoony style lines, but I'd love to study the concepts of line-less painting like my dear friend @Ashlelang does

"The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head" by William Maughan was a nice book that helped me wrap my head around that, but I'm not sure if its practical instructions translate well to digital drawings. Any explanations on chiaroscuro and sfumato might be a start though.

honestly i've found that doing very basic pencil studies of 3D shapes is a great starting point. its a good way to familiarize yourself with the digital paintbrushes too imo
