I want you to do me a favor. Don't call yourself stupid. Even as a little self-deprecating joke because you made a mistake or forgot something trivial. I worry that things like that compound, and you subconsciously begin to believe it. Love ya, Ronnie

This is good advice, but aren't a lot of your comics based off of self-deprecating humor?

I also don't want people to commit suicide, despite my making jokes about it. Humor isn't somehow permission or recommendation to do as the caricature does. If anything, it's a cautionary tale.

Those two things aren't equivalent. You're making jokes ABOUT suicide, but you're not making jokes ABOUT self-deprecation, you're self-deprecating using humor.

My character is not a hero meant for emulation. He reflects personal fears and shortcomings for more people than myself. Do you think I should write comics about a main character who loves himself and leads by example, or should I just not tell people to believe in themselves?

Are you saying that when your character makes self-deprecating jokes, those are just jokes the character is making about himself, and doesn't reflect yourself or your disposition in any way, despite the character having the same name and likeness as you? That's confusing.

My previous tweet states, "He reflects personal fears and shortcomings for more people than myself." In this, I include myself. I also make great effort to not call myself stupid, as per the original message. If only the perfect can help the imperfect, that is a terrible fate.

"If only the perfect can help the imperfect, that is a terrible fate." I haven't been saying this, at all. All I was wondering about was the incongruity.

That you used to make self-deprecating jokes about yourself but you don't anymore because you've grown as a person, which was the response I was sort of expecting before you turned the conversation to suicide.

I didn't turn the conversation anywhere, just pointing out an extreme example. However, you may be right. Maybe I have changed as a person. I hope I can continue to change in a positive direction!
