I thought it was a great way of showing the difference between Miles and the other Spider-man's abilities. He was animated on 1s when he was doing well to make the audience feel his improvement.

I personally dig the aesthetic, but I can see how if you're used to seeing computer graphics running smooth as fresh butter, it just tricks your brain into thinking the film is having rendering issues and lagging, and that can be a distraction.
