They confuse wage payers with job creators. Businesses hire the number of workers they need to do the work that needs to be done. Giving them more money does not create more work. Giving consumers more money does that. Also more government spending does that.

Gee, if only some--let's call them "economists"--had only told us this was true. And some--let's call them "Republican law-makers"--had acted on that truth.

And companies don’t necessarily hire the number of people they need but rather the minimum number they can get away with. . .

The government being involved with any of it is your first and biggest mistake - you get pennies on the dollar back on government spending - if you’ve ever worked for the government or a government contractor, it’s painfully obvious

1) Your response is completely off topic. The issue is, the tax cuts did not create either the jobs or the revenue promised. As every reputable economist said at the time. 2) Spending is spending. You give people jobs, they spend money, that boosts the economy. Private or public
-
And my argument would be spending isn’t spending - spending for the sake of spending isn’t the same as spending as a means to an end. WWII/Space Race were means to an end. New Deal and proxy war in Vietnam not so much. Government checks need to be associated with goals.
-
spending to stimulate the economy isn't spending for a goal then? that said, I'm not in favor of just spending whatever taxes raise. I am though in favor of setting tax levels to match what needs to be spent. all taxes are not bad and all spending is not good.
