Social Security benefits will automatically go up by a small amount next year. That's better than nothing but not enough to keep up with seniors' health care and prescription costs.https://twitter.com/AP/status/1050378256132857857 …

Tens of millions of Social Security beneficiaries and other retirees can expect a modest increase in benefits next year as inflation edges higher. http://apne.ws/r9pZTa2

Working Americans earn #SocialSecurity by paying in with every paycheck. A lifetime of work and contributions means they deserve a secure retirement - not worrying about which bills to pay.

Congress should be protecting and strengthening #SocialSecurity benefits, not pushing radical changes to Social Security like the president's aides and congressional Republicans have proposed.

How come the increase is never near the amount of inflation? It never seems close to what everything else goes up. Seems like Social Security goes up 2.5% and grocery's go up 5% or more! Seems like that whole formula needs a reality check.

Exactly. That’s why Congress should change the Social Security COLA calculation from using the CPI-W (workers) to the CPI-E (elderly) inflation factor which places a greater emphasis on the increase in Healthcare costs.

2009-2016 up 1.7% 2017 raise 2.0% 2019 raise 2.6% You complain that Pres Trump is not doing enough when Obama (with Wyden & Merkley in senate) did nearly nothing in his 8 years. Obama raised SS COLA 1.7% over 8 years and you're dissing Trump. Give my a bloody break. #'s speak out

Wyden, you are so wrong. We had no raises under Obama and the last two raises were only 1% and then took all of that for increased Medicare costs. 2.8% is a windfall to most of us.

Largest one since 2011. 2009,2010 and 2015 say zero raise, first time in SSA COLA history. You said nothing then. Why blast a 2.8% increase when Dems presided over numerous zero increase?
