Even though the interim bill was an idiotic stalling tactic, it was a "clean" extension of the increased UI benefits that required no concessions. Democrats regularly make massive concessions in exchange for far less.

I actually think this is a display of having a spine ... if and only if they hold that line until the GOP caves in for more extended UI. We'll see; if the Dem's cave in then yeah your point is absolutely valid.
-
having a spine would be demanding the week extension because that's saying you're not willing to leave the people out for one day, and then demanding a strong bill and insisting on more extensions if you don't get it. Also, dems have already hinted they'll cave.

For the first time I disagree with you, they are playing a bigger game than just one week
-
it was a one week extension with no strings, they could still push for a decent bill in addition, instead they rejected it and they'll likely cave soon so the people will get as little as absolutely possible.

The Democrats actually voted several weeks ago to continue the $600 for 6 months. That bill has been sitting on McConnell's desk ever since.

There are as many good Democratic leaders as there are good cops. The answer is zero.
