A better democracy is one where ‘small’ parties coalesce around pragmatic solutions to solving issues at hand. The government of unity under Mandela is a clear example of different people seeking a collective goal and working together.

Just two years after the first democratic election, Parliament agreed on the Constitution - a document that binds all citizens under a set on principles. Don’t tell me coalitions and partnerships don’t work.

Any party that has too much power distorts democracy. The ANC nationally and the DA in WC are losing support. Why? They lack competition - parties like the ZACP, COPE and others deepen democracy by holding bigger parties accountable - just like the DA and EFF to the ANC.

Hang on, just because a large portion of voters don’t vote doesn’t mean new or small partied don’t split the vote. It depends on whether the existing voters change their vote or if the new parties get non-voters voting. Agree with the rest though.
