To minimise existential risk (risk of *all* humans dying out) it would be better if the current world were split into 10 smaller worlds which were kept separate by hard physical boundaries with minimal comms and no travel or biosphere sharing. Agree?
If there were 10 earths that are currently hidden from each other, it would be better to keep them hidden and separate to minimise x-risk, rather than to bring them together into one civilization with travel, biosphere sharing and correlated economics and politics. Agree?
Trading of ideas/technology allows us to come up with solutions to prevent existential risks. It's not actually clear which way the risk is higher
if you are trying to ensure that at least one planet out of 10 survives, is it better to have them all talking to each other as well as tourism, trade, shared biospheres etc?
