"Crime in SF is down 20%" ?? This is very misleading.
Homicides are up 42%. Shootings up 32%.
Majority of the "crime drop" is driven by the decrease in tourist car burglaries.
Did anyone at @FastCompany check the (publicly available) data? cc @kristindakota

Let's start with the article. It has one crime stat in it (among much colorful prose.) "Compared to last year, crime rates in SF are down more than 20%." The stat is quoting
@chesaboudin from his speech at the@FastCompany Innovation Festival. (2/x)https://www.fastcompany.com/90558083/how-san-franciscos-da-cut-the-citys-jail-population-without-jeopardizing-public-safety …2 replies 1 retweet 26 likesShow this thread -
Let me get this straight. The DA gives a speech to the press, the press takes that unverified data and publish it, and, finally, the DA tweets the news story and some third party recognizing a brilliant work done??? Is this the full circle here? What am I missing??
