We can reach a lift to drag ratio of over 70:1 with modern sailplanes. That's approximately an order of magnitude better than a Cessna, which is 8 or 9.

The real market for the "cheap, mass produced expendable launchers" like Astra's, BTW, (if they were reliable and actually as cheap as they hope...), is missiles. All different types of missiles. This is why I'm really more of a reusables guy.
