Yeah, but he has permission from the creator of the song to use that music.

no he doesnt. his intro is a remix of Gene Chandler's Nothing Can Stop Me. its legal to remix a song, but when u take a clip from the remix, its no longer a remix. his intro is now just a sped up version of the original songs actual intro. you cant speed it up n claim you own it.

yes, that how it works. thats why most youtubers are smart enough to not make their intro out of corporate music.

I mean, Mumbo isn't fully in the wrong - if he reached out to the person who remixed it and that person gave him permission to use the song, is it not the re-mixers fault he is in this mess?

yes, its the remixers fault for selling a song he didnt own. but that doesnt mean mumbo is in the clear. if you buy a stolen bike, the cops will still take it from you.

I think Mumbo IS in the clear. The artist needed to tell him about the song. Mumbo could not have known. Not only that, but it's a remix and from my knlwoledge it's fully within the legal part (at least that's what i know).

It's rather messy in regards to remixes, for example - the person who made the remix probably had permission to sample the initial track, but not then distribute it to be used by others (ie. Mumbo). Reactor's stolen bike analogy is solid, but that doesn't mean it's Mumbo's fault.
