“Friend zone”
The misogyny and entitlement and violent rage filters all the way up into seemingly anodyne concepts like “friend zone”. They hate women so, so much it’s terrifying just on the face of it. Also deeply racist.
yeah it's terrifying and sad. The only thing I can think that would help is teaching healthy masculinity in school, straight from elementary school. these people are the extreme versions of the misogyny that is inherent in our society.
All of us get lonely: we should experience this as sadness but many men turn it into anger and then violent aggression and that is toxic masculinity in a nutshell.
you'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't be) at how few men I know who are comfortable with expressing sadness; even fewer that ask for help after they do.
