Today is 's 95th birthday. Almost 50 years ago I knocked on the door of his apartment in a Paris suburb. He welcomed me in and talked with me about mindfulness and the way of peace. That encounter planted many seeds.

20 yrs ago I edited "THICH NHAT HANH: Essential Writings" . That day also led to my friendship with Jim Forest, whose "EYES OF COMPASSION: Learning from Thich Nhat Hanh" we published this year. Happy birthday Thay! Present moment, beautiful moment!
