My father, a Korean War nuclear veteran, sacrificed his life. I have come to accept his service in uniform helped save countless in our nuclear age. But war is indeed the winner as Merton penned, in its complexity of our journey, ever so real now in the sadness of Afghanistan.

With all that is going on in the world today, it is hard ... very hard. I believe the day will come when the savior (PBUH) will give prosperity to a world that is oppressed, like rain to a dead and dry plain.
