That's because Trump had not made it an issue during his campaign. If you look back before and after Trump's inauguration there were bishops' statements critical of Trump's immigration & border wall policies.

The issues and rhetoric of his campaign were even more extreme—calling for torture, targeting families of terrorists, banning all Muslims from US, promising to lock up his rival, etc.
