On Dec 29 1890 nearly 300 Lakota people were massacred by U.S. Calvary at Wounded Knee. Black Elk, a Lakota holy man, was a survivor of the massacre.

He wrote, “A people’s dream died there... It was a beautiful dream...the nation’s hoop is broken and scattered. There is no center any longer, and the sacred tree is dead.” Later he became a Catholic catechist, now candidate for canonization.

This sickens me. Our country’s theft of Native lands in the interest of profit is inhuman. I tire of hearing of millions dying under socialism when pursuit of capitalist profit has killed just as many, if not, far more. My❤️is with the Lakota people on this tragic anniversary.
