When the Gospel reading is uncannily topical: “He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”...Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”

I'm not sure that's what happened. I think that Simon Peter asked Jesus to wash his feet and Jesus said, "You shouldn't be asking me for things in that nasty voice. You should be saying, 'Congratulations! Good job!'"
