Jesuit Rutilio Grande was killed by a death squad along with an old catechist and teenage boy, now due for beatification. Grande, in 1977, was the first in a line of Salvadoran priests targeted for their option for the poor, his death a catalyst on Oscar Romero’s road to Calvary.
