St Melania the Younger, d Dec 31 439, was one of the great women of the early church. In a life of varied experience she was a wife and mother, monk and hermit, pilgrim and spiritual director—all united in an underlying call to the spiritual life.
Conversation
After the death of her children she convinced her husband to join her in a life of prayer and good works. At once they freed their 8000 slaves, sold their estates, and gave all to the poor. After establishing monasteries she retired to a hermitage in Bethlehem.

(She was named after her grandmother, St Melania the Elder. Thus, a name with noble lineage, and truly an inspiration to #BeBest)

Good grief! She was born in Hispania! Her decendents are trapped at our border. BeBest indeed!
Seems like the holy mother in law was better off living as a hermit. Proving perfection is not required for sainthood.🤔
Reference my tweet yesterday on hearing more on Women in the Early Church... Thank you Robert. Another I’ve never heard of, how/ where can I find out about more of these women?.. Beautiful painting.
