July 28 1981 Bd Stanley Rother, an Oklahoma priest serving in Guatemala, was killed by a death squad in the rectory of his parish in San Attilan. Not a priest in the “prophetic” mold—just a simple shepherd who would not abandon his flock and ultimately laid down his life.

He’s one of my heroes. The retired pastor of work parish knew him at The Mount. I had heard many stories & then told me she was writing a book about him. That book remains a favorite. ¡Presente!
