Your Excellency: I would like to point out that I'm not seeking to challenge church teaching, as I have stated in public and in print. Rather, I'm inviting us to the "respect, compassion and sensitivity" for LGBT Catholics that the Catechism recommends.

Today's gospel reading is apt: Regarding Jesus, "The people were astonished at the way he taught, for he spoke as one having authority, and not like the teachers of the law." (Spoiler alert: this did not make him popular with teachers of the law.")
I know, right? I mean the rigid and archaic rules need to go. We need to help people have sex with each other more often & with more people, without any guilt or shame. And don't mention that it is sinful or immoral or that it has serious medical risks, both physical and mental.
