Never believe Facebook. They're just trying to collect more data to increase their ad buys under the guise of education. Sounds like this program is another corporate trick packaged as an education solution. I'm surprised the teachers would even go along with it.

For the teacher training, facebook didn't even spring for hotels in the city! I guess they like flying into Newark.

Good for them. Technology is a dangerous distraction. It looks like a solution but it isn't. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/26/style/digital-divide-screens-schools.html …

It’s not the technology. It’s the profit motive of certain unethical companies. Otherwise we’d all still be using chalk and a slate.

Kudos to the students for revolting against this! My kid was set behind a whole year in math with a similar kind of "experiment" at a charter school. It encourages the teacher to do almost nothing, relying on the computer to "teach" the kids. Facebook's involvement is even worse!

My son did not have facebook until his high school English teacher made it the only platform to get extra credit... he's college now still has it but only to post science articles he finds interesting. It's a terrible idea to force kids into this.

He *had* to get Facebook for school??
