Breaking News: A judge has blocked the merger between Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster, a victory for the Biden administration’s antitrust efforts.
there's something to a certain aspect of wolzenos which is like "we are the only ones who can understand the deepest parts of each other but we are also the only ones in this world who could destroy one another" and its interesting to think about
With Victoria 3 having just come out, my favorite type of Reddit post is people complaining about balance issues that's just real life, just saw "It's too hard to get Rubber and Oil without colonization"
This is another branch of my “Kylo Renification of Lestat” theory.
And I’ve seen this not just with Akasha (who we all agree is not redeemable, she’s evil duh.) SOME fans have found fault with Claudia or Louis just to excuse Lestat.
Yet they can’t register his behavior.
some free advice, from someone who worked at Vine and also led the shutdown of Vine.
This code is 6+ years old. Some of it is 10+. You don't want to look there. If you want to revive Vine, you should start over.
trust me on this one guys ✌️🌱
Scoop w/ @sarafischer: Twitter engineers have been instructed to look at the old Vine code, with hopes that Vine could be revived by year-end. https://axios.com/2022/10/31/vine-tiktok-twitter-musk-team-reboot…
The background of Pyramid Head in SH2 was inspired by this Louis' quote from Jacob's Ladder back then. Also this is one of most memorable scenes for me.
No qualified immunity for Brookside, Alabama, cops accused of manufacturing charges to fine people and tow cars as a city revenue scheme. https://reason.com/2022/10/31/woman-can-sue-alabama-cops-for-towing-car-as-part-of-towns-profiteering-scheme/… via @reason
i think a bigger threat than foxnews is like half of what tiktok/youtube/etc has become -- motivational capitalism that teaches people any failing they experience in their lives is a sign of weakness they can Hustle away. i legit think thats a big precursor to fascism
XIV friends, did you get anything unexpected out of playing the game?
I started playing because I hadn't played an MMO in years, but I was not expecting to fall in love with my character and end up shipping her with an NPC! That just... didn't even occur to me in other MMOs
And then there's species like Pere David's Deer and the Scimitar Oryx, which are extinct in the wild! The claim is "game ranches are keeping the species alive." The counter is that they're not optimizing for releasability and they'll cull them the instant they aren't profitable.
less offensive but just incredibly pointless: you can "hunt" the exotic Watusi cattle! which are literally just domestic cattle. you could walk up and pet them. http://youtu.be/wy-_yW4M28E (no harm in video, just a small child demonstrating how wild these animals are)
Website security challenge: "Click on the picture of the Koala"
> There are no Koalas
> There is no option to say "there are no koalas"
> Clicks on picture of a brown bear
Website: WELCOME BACK
I've just trained deep learned AI somewhere to think that brown bears are koalas.
Emily Oster is the exact perfect representation of everything banal and evil about U.S. pandemic propaganda. You couldn’t have invented her. “Cost-benefit analysis,” “sunk costs,” “pandemic amnesty” when children, their caregivers, their teachers, were sacrificed for the economy
1. Satine says she paid the Sirens writers. Red Opera not mentioned. Why? 🧐
2. I'm tired of her and Jamison's rigmarole. I'm tired that their behavior has me looking for every possible exploitable loophole in contracts bc I no longer trust new employers will act in good faith.
Salty Bird posted on her Instagram this weekend and would like you all to know she's done apologizing publicly (which she never did), that everyone she owes money to got paid (which they didn't), and that she is ready to move on and join the TTRPG community again (we are not).
